Read these books to lead an extraordinary life - Part 1

BOOKS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN INTEGRAL PART OF AN INDIVIDUAL’S JOURNEY OF SELF-DEVELOPMENT.

Here are some interesting reads that we should all read at least once in our lifetime.

1. Man’s Search for Meaning by Victor Frankl

This book is so soul stirring that it will almost change the way one looks at things altogether. We all know of the holocaust and what happened to millions of Jews around 7 decades ago. This heartbreakingly beautiful book is actually Victor Frankl’s personal account of his harrowing and horrid experiences when he was living in a concentration camp. He talks about how he spent three years in four Nazi concentration camos during World War 2 and survived.

This book in it’s literally style and bare it all narration celebrates the power hope and faith holds amidst despair. His memoir hails the philosophy that those who brace themselves to sail through tribulations emerge victorious in the end. If one cherishes this positive perspective on life, one will see light in the bleakest corners. While we can’t control what happens to us, we can largely define our lives by how we choose to react.

2. Autobiography of a Yogi

This book is one of those reads that will stay etched in our heart for a lifetime. It is a book to be read, re-read, sought solace from and devoured to the core.

It is an autobiography of Parmanansa Yogananda, who was a proponent of Kriya Yoga. “In this book, Yogananda describes his journey of becoming a Yogi as well as the numerous divine encounters he witnessed. It elucidates his journey and encounters with various gurus, saints, scientists as well as leaders. It is a spiritual treasure everyone must reap from if they believe they can make their lives more meaningful.

Steve Jobs reportedly discovered this powerful book at the tender age of 17 and it is said that he read it every single year of his life till he lost his battle to pancreatic cancer at 56. In fact, this book was presented a gift to everyone who attended his funeral services. Motivation enough to pick this one?

Wait for the next part of the series as we bring you another set of amazing books to dive into.
